150 miles off the western coast of Australia lies one of the largest discoveries of hydrocarbon liquids in the region’s recent history. Ichthys LNG is comprised of three large distinct projects, combined into one.
Onshore and Offshore facilities are connected by over 5oo miles of pipeline. The project is under construction and will begin production in late 2017. The field was discovered and developed by INPEX Australia in the Browse Basin in 2000. It is a joint venture between INPEX, Total, CPC Corporation Taiwan and the Australian entities of Osaka Gas, Tokyo Gas, Kansai Electric Power, JERA and Toho Gas. Ichthys will produce 9,000,000 tons of liquid natural gas and over 1,500,000 of product every year for forty years. It will also produce 100,000 barrels of condensate daily. These will be transported to onshore facilities near Darwin by pipeline. An FPSO unit within easy reach of the field itself will offer direct shipping to global markets.
