Civil Construction Supervisor

Civil Construction Supervisor oversees field execution of civil construction during the well factory process.



Role Purpose:

Ensures field execution of projects adhere to Design Package, Standard Workflow Processes, Safe Work Practices and Hess Standards/Rules.


Minimum Requirements:

  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years construction management experience and/or supervision of earthwork construction projects


Role Requirements:


  • Strong working knowledge of mass grading earthwork projects
  • Ability to interpret engineered designs, specifications, and survey principles
  • Ability to develop civil construction scopes for small to medium sized projects
  • Ability to manage multiple construction projects at one time
  • Ability to proficiently work in Microsoft office, Adobe, and schedule daily activities in our SPS software (training will be given on SPS)  
  • Possess excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to review and advise on budgets and change orders
  • Ability to work with landowners and government officials


Job Description:

  • Initiate and Manage Construction Kick-Off meetings
  • Conduct daily site visits to locations and approval of Work Permits
  • Attend jobsite tailgate meetings, contractor safety meetings, and reviews JSAs on location
    • Safety is our #1 priority
  • Utilize our behavioral based safety observation tool (TREND) to submit monthly observations
  • Manage the scheduling of all civil project daily activities according to SPS
  • Ensure that all projects are constructed without deviation according to the IFC Design
  • Ensure that all construction activities are checked for Quality acceptance – COS acceptance to Drilling, Facilities, Completions and Operations
  • Communicate impacts and Design Deviations to Project Lead
    • Preliminary review and communication of all scope and schedule changes
  • Responsible to lead & schedule Post Job Walk Downs and facilitate project handover
  • Responsible to coordinate cross functional activities involving the contractor on location
    • Safely plan and execute SIMOPs (simultaneous operations) with other functions
  • Communicate and coordinate with Project Lead on any resource constraints on project
  • Work with land owners, state agencies & government personnel as required for stipulation & regulatory compliance
  • First line of decision making on Warranty Requests or Change Orders
  • Responsible for making sure contractors are following all Hess Standard Process in an effort to standardize work & result in similar execution and delivery results across the field
  • Responsible for all civil support needed throughout drilling operations
  • Responsible to attend all pre-drilling rig move meetings and coordinate all needed work prior to rig move to ensure route is safe and pad is 100% ready for rig arrival
  • Coordinate all activities after drilling rig release in order to hand pad over for flow line install and eventually handover for completion activities
  • Responsible for the execution of Legacy & Final Reclamation Projects
  • Responsible for cross functional coordination with all Hess disciplines to execute special projects relating to civil activities and pad maintenance

Role Authorities

  • Direct personnel on location in the best in interest of Health, Safety, and Environmental
  • Direct work in accordance with the IFC Design and schedule commitment
  • Initiate daily activities and approve Site Work Permits
  • Ask those who will not comply with company policies or expectations to leave your job site
  • Stop Work in the interest of safety, problem resolution regarding design questions, efficiency impacts
  • To initiate a change order request, approve change that does not affect, Design, Schedule, Cost and consult with Superintendent
