We’re collecting school supplies for HAWC

HAWC is one of Competentia’s ongoing CSR projects.

This month, Competentia is collecting backpacks for the Houston Area Women’s Center’s Back to School Project 2019.

Mykeala Barley and Amanda Brittain have been collecting back packs and packing them with school supplies, to help local kids arrive at school this year with everything they need to start the year.

The Houston Area Women’s Center (HAWC) has worked to help survivors live lives free from the effects of violence for over forty years.

Your donation will help them to:

  • Provide a lifeline for survivors of domestic and sexual violence through our 24-hour-a-day hotline.
  • Ensure women and children escaping violent homes have a safe and supportive place to turn at the Women’s Center 120-bed shelter.
  • Keep individual and group counseling services available, free of charge, for survivors.
  • Teach teens about healthy relationships and how to stop dating violence before it starts.

This month’s drive focuses on providing supplies to children affected by the experiences of the women who benefit from HAWC’s services.

“We’re so happy to have the opportunity to help HAWC in some small way,” said Mykeala.

“Nothing is more important than giving kids the opportunity to pursue an education, free from any limitations placed on them by their circumstances.”

You can make a donation at any Competentia office during August.
