The Construction Superintendent – Tanks is responsible for all aspects of the delivery of
- • Two double containment LNG tanks
- • Two condensate storage tanks
- • 40+ miscellaneous prefabricated API tanks
- • Optionally this scope can grow to include Boil-off gas compressor, Flare erection and other miscellaneous equipment in LNG plant unit 300
- Construction/installation at site up to pre-commissioning and handover to commissioning
- • Lead safety from the front to ensure safe execution and enforce Contractor HSE management systems
- • Use prior technical expertise to ensure the flawless delivery of a high-quality final product, including the civils/foundations, mechanical piping and components, LNG pumps and associated electrical and instrumentation infrastructure
- • Track progress of the prefabricated tank fabrication in the Middle East, and manage all any construction interfaces with the other Unit Superintendents as they arise
- • Work closely with the design team engineers, quality/assurance and HSE team members and build a performance and delivery culture
- • Work closely with project controls on work coordination, planning, scheduling, changes, budgets and cost, along with status updates and reporting
- • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate these to project teams for resolution.
- • Monitor and review general construction practices, including design control, document control, interface
- • Work closely with the Completions team on completions and turnover to commissioning
- • Participate in model reviews, constructability reviews and other important reviews

Accountabilitues:
- Lead the Client team in the oversight for execution by a specialist Contractor for all scope in Unit 300 of the Mozambique LNG project
- • Establish and foster professional working relations with the EPC contractor management team and tanks implementation contractor, to jointly achieve a performance mindset
- • Be visible and present at the construction worksite itself
- • Promote ethical conduct, accountability and transparency of decision making by exam
Requirements for the Candidates
- Degree, diploma or vocational training in engineering, construction or heavy industrial related discipline
- • Construction professional with direct and demonstrable experience in the on-site execution of LNG tanks and API tanks
- • A minimum ten (10) years relevant industry experience, and being able to articulate HSE and quality expectations in an oil and gas environment
- • Deep understanding of LNG and API tank engineering and specifications
- • Supervisory or management experience on LNG or large capital project preferred
- • Proven track record as a ‘boots on the ground’ Company representative on EPCM/PMC LNG & Construction projects
- • A history of safety leadership in similar roles on a large-scale construction projects
- • Advanced knowledge of general construction activities for onshore LNG Facilities, buildings and associated disciplines, such as survey, civil, structural, piping, mechanical, electrical and instruments
- • Proven ability to liaise professionally with EPC Contractor and other key stakeholders on site
- • Ability to challenge others constructively and negotiate resolutions
- • Proven ability to interpret and manage project schedules and report against EPC field progress
- • Tactful and mature demeanour with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities
- • Advanced computer skills for MS Office, Adobe and Database software applications
- • Speaking Portuguese is an advantage
Environment :
- The Mozambique LNG project is being constructed in a remote area of Northern Mozambique, currently only accessible by air or sea
- • The work will be executed on a rotational basis. Current COVID quarantine measures require a 6/4 weeks rotation schedule, this will revert to a more conventional 4/4 weeks rotation. All on 7 day working week. 10-12 hours/day are the norm.
- • Comfortable accommodation is in the ACE camp in Afungi
- • Security concerns in the Province of Cabo Delgado are currently limiting travel and personal movement
