Job Spec :



 Technical support to COMPANY on all aspects of Mechnical, Piping and Material matters, and provision of expert technical advice, including but not limited to, on the following subjects:

  • • Proactive management of elements of the mechanical piping and bulk equipment overall cost and schedule; close monitoring of the EPC Contractor’s work product and report of any issues with the Mechanical Rotating Equipment Engineer and ISBL Project Engineer,
  • • Participation in P&ID reviews, HAZOP and other safety review meetings as required,
  • • Review of the appropriate EPC deliverables, not necessarily limited to Piping and Materials areas,
  • • Monitoring of EPC Contractor discipline progress and quality and confirm they are acceptable. If progress and/or quality is not acceptable, prompt notification/information to and collaboration with respective Mechanical Engineers and PMT Management to improve performance to an acceptable level,
  • • Communication and cooperation, as necessary, with other engineering sections of the Mozambique LNG project, to ensure a consistent approach is taken to all project packaged facilities. Interface and close collaboration with EPC Contractor's Mechanical Piping, Pipeline and Materials and Corrosion Lead engineers; Cooperation and coordination with Mechanical Engineers and obtainment of input from Companies Production group for layout, access and maintainability agreement,

  • • Provision of immediate incidents and near misses reports,

  • Daily, weekly and monthly Progress Reports,
  • • Final Report.


Technical Requirement:


 General requirements:

  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering
  • • Minimum 15 years’ experience in LNG / Gas Processing / Refinery and/or petrochemical industries
  • • Minimum 10 years of detailed piping, pipeline and materials engineering experience in lead roles and/or specialization


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Mechanical Piping and Materials Engineer or above on a large scale LNG project
  • • Fluent oral and written knowledge of English.


Specific experience and expertise required:

  • • In depth knowledge of current codes, standards and good engineering practices specifically within the LNG and gas processing Industry,
  • • PMC experience with large size green field projects in LNG sector with similar roles and accountabilities
  • • Responsible to review, approve, guide and supervise the detail engineering work of the EPC Contractors and ensure compliance with Project Specification, Design Basis, Codes & Standards and Local Regulations
  • • Experience pertaining to Engineering deliverables, such as, Piping Design Philosophy, Plot Plans, Layout Drawings, 3D Model, Piping and Valve Specifications, MTO, Piping supports and hangers, Acoustic and Flow induced vibration analysis, Thermal and Mechanical stress analysis, Piping SP Items Data Sheets, Mechanical material handling report and Technical Bid Analysis
  • • Review and respond to the technical queries or deviation raised by the EPC Contractors
  • • Liaise with the engineering disciplines: Process, Instruments, Static Equipment, Rotating Equipment, Electrical, Structural and Procurement
  • • Coordinate the stress analysis review with a third party appointed on behalf of Company
  • • Proven track record in commonly used software applications, such as SP3D/PDMS/Navisworks, Autocad and specific software for stress analyses, pipe thickness, branch reinforcement etc
  • • Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues and ensure compliance with Company’s Quality Procedures
  • • Post PO placement, review and approve supplier documentation for the related piping components, visit the supplier’s premises to attend kick-off / alignment meetings, the testing of piping components or clarification meetings
  • • Specific experience in the design and selection of Cryogenic components, including Valves/ Actuators, HIPPS and Vessel / Heat Exchanger interfaces
  • • Expert-level knowledge of operational requirements for design (Performance Standards, Safety Critical Elements, Written Scheme of Examinations and Barrier Management principles)
  • • Previous experience with all packaged equipment design codes, package layout, lifting and transportation requirements, material selection / fabrication, pressure protection systems, vessel survivability, fire protection and fire safety analysis
  • • In-depth knowledge and previous development of Asset Integrity Management systems required for LNG facilities
  • • Application of Energy Institute Guidelines for Acoustic Induced Vibration
  • • Significant experience in a similar role(s) on a large scale LNG project(s),
  • • Significant experience with APCI C3MR liquefaction process
  • • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • • Proven ability to manage, influence and liaise with contractors, subcontractors, clients and other key stakeholders in the engineering office,
  • • Proven ability to manage and influence a team and develop an effective culture through respect and by example,
  • • Team player able to foster team relationships, and think outside the box. Proficient English language skills, both verbal and written.
